NEW THIS YEAR – Miss & Mr. Firecracker Pageant

Monday, June 21, 2021 – 6:30 PM

Location: The Boathouse on Lake Charlevoix

Sponsored by: Castle Farms, 1918 Cellars Tasting Room and Bistro & The Boathouse on Lake Charlevoix

Little Miss & Mr. Ages 5-8 Years old

Junior Miss & Mr. Ages 9-12 Years old

Miss & Mr. Firecracker 13 – 16 Years old

For the 2021 Festival Season, we will be accepting the first 5 individuals in each category. If there is a category that does not have a male contestant that enters there will be a Miss and 1sr runner up.  If there is a male in said category there will be 3 division winners.  Miss, 1st Runner Up and Mr.

Each contestant must have an East Jordan, MI Address

Entry Fee for Little Miss and Mr. will be $25.00
Entry Fee for Junior Miss and Mr. & Miss and Mr. will be $50.00
Entry Fee does cover their contestant T-shirt for opening number

Application will be able to be filled out and submitted to the Chamber to Shannon
through the Website as well as mailed out if need be. They are first come first serve and
then a waiting list incase someone drops out or cannot make it

Contestant will be in the Grand Parade and also helping with events throughout the festival!

There will be 3 categories;

1.Patriotic Wear

2. Formal Wear (This can be simple or elaborate)

Mr. Contestants: khakis and a dress shirt and tie to a suit

Miss Contestants: A nice dress with heels

3. Q&A (Age appropriate for their division)

Prizes will be a Crown, Sash and Flowers for each division winner.  Plus a goodie bag for the remaining contestants.

Outdoor Movie

Wednesday, June 23, 2021 at Dusk (around 9:30 PM)

Grab a blanket, a lawn chair, family, friends, neighbors or co-workers, and head to the Adult Softball Field (across from Marty’s Dairy Grille) to enjoy a FREE outdoor movie – PG rated.  Come down early, stake your ground, social distance and have some fun.

Movie will begin at sundown (around 9:30 pm) and will be shown under the stars on a huge, inflatable screen with a state-of-the-art projection and sound system. The movie is free and family- friendly.

Memorial Park Bandshell – 6:00 PM

Hold onto your hats and don’t blink an eye! Gordon Russ, magician to the world, and his Big Comedy Magic Show is coming to Jordan Valley Freedom Festival! Gather the kids, be there on Wednesday, June 23, 2021, at 6:00 pm and prepare to be amazed. Gordon and his trusty sidekick, George the Raccoon, have traveled the globe in search of smiles, laughs, and fun. But this time, instead of China, England, Israel, Japan, or Australia, Gordon is bringing his unique brand of illusion right to the Jordan Valley Freedom Festival, located at , East Jordan.

Block Party

Friday, June 25, 2021  from 6:00 PM – 9:30 PM – Due to Covid- 19 LOCATION CHANGE – Memorial Park & Spring Street

This year’s Block Party the Theme for the night will be  “Family, Friends and Freedom”. The Friday Night Block Party in downtown East Jordan. Friday, June 25, 2021 from 6:00 PM – 9:30 PM will be an event to remember. There will be Live Music, Food, Games, The Michigan Stilt Walker will be on hand to make balloon creations and lots more. This is a chance for our local Clubs, Groups, Organizations and Churches to set up a booth and make some money. There is no charge for a booth space for our non-profits. It’s a great time to come downtown and meet up with friends, old and new for a great night of fun.

Youth Parade

Wednesday, June 23, 2021 at 5:30 PM – NEW DAY AND TIME

This year we will celebrate Fun through the Decades. Build a float, decorate your bike or wagon, dress up in costume and join the fun. The Parade will begin at GAR Park/Williams Street, head south down Main Street to Hammond Street and left and ending on Spring Street.  Awards and refreshments immediately following the parade in Memorial  Park.

Button Drawing

Friday, June 25, 2021 at 7:00, 8:00 & 9:00 PM

Purchase your commemorative East Jordan Freedom Festival Button to be entered for a chance to win one of SIX fabulous prizes, plus one very special, once-in-a-lifetime chance to set off the secular Freedom Festival Fireworks display on Saturday night. Button drawings will be held on the hour during the Friday Night Block Party on the Bandshell in Memorial Park, Friday, June 25, 2021. Drawings will be at 7:00, 8:00 & 9:00 PM. (Must be present to win) Your Festival Button will also be good for money saving special at participating East Jordan locations. Festival Buttons will be on sale at several East Jordan locations prior to the festival and will also be sold at the Friday Night Block Party while supplies last.

Throughout the week

Purchase a button at events throughout the week for a chance to win a special prize the night of the event (buy a button on Wednesday and be entered to win the Wednesday night prize, special drawing Thursday as well). Buttons must be purchased the day of the event, at the event, to be eligible to win that nights prize (Must be present to win). ALL FESTIVAL BUTTONS purchased will be eligible for the Button Drawings on Friday Night at the Block Party. (Must be present to win)


3-On-3 Basketball Tournament

Saturday, June 26, 2021 – Player Check-in 8:00 AM

This tournament is an excellent way for both boys and girls teams to have fun playing 3 – on – basketball in a friendly yet competitive environment. Divisions are determined by the grade students just completed, based on the oldest player.

Kids Bounce Houses


Make plans to head to Murphy’s Field where the kids can play in two Bounce Houses. There will be no charge to enter.

Grand Parade

Saturday, June 26, 2021 – 3:00 PM

If it’s Floats, Beauty Queens, Fire Trucks, Bands and Fun you’re looking for then the Freedom Festival Grand Parade is the place for you. Come out and enjoy the parade celebrating with the theme of “Family, Friends and Freedom”. The Grand Parade will be led by the Color Guard.

Prize Raffle


Try your luck at the Freedom Festival Prize Raffle. The raffle will be held on Saturday, June 27, 2020 in Memorial Park at the Band Shell. Tickets will be sold  in Memorial Park starting at 4 PM on Saturday. You will have a chance to win over 40 prizes that have been graciously donated by area businesses and individuals. The prizes range from works of art to gift certificates and everything in between. You must be present to win. Drawings will take place throughout the Lip Sync Contest.

Lip Sync Contest

Saturday, June 26, 2021 – 6:00 PM

Do you have a favorite song or favorite artist? Come down to the Main Stage in Memorial Park on Saturday and show the world how well you know the words. Dress up, choreograph a dance or just mouth the words, but most of all have fun and try to win the cash prize. Song choice must be approved prior to the event. Contestants must be registered and pre-approved by Friday, June 25, 2021, so register early to guarantee your song choice.

Festival 500

Saturday, June 26, 2021 – 8:00 PM

If you’re feeling lucky be sure to get your Festival 500 ticket for your chance to win one of 10 $50 cash prizes or the Grand Prize of $500.00 in cash. Tickets will be on sale during the festival at the Freedom Festival Information Booth or from any Festival Board Member. Tickets are $5.00 each and the drawing will be held in Memorial Park on Saturday, just before the band takes the stage. You do not need to be present to win.

Fabulous Fireworks

Saturday, June 26, 2021 – Dusk

No festival would be complete without a grand finale of Fabulous Fireworks and the East Jordan Freedom Festival has just that. Launched from a barge in the middle of the Beautiful South Arm of Lake Charlevoix and synchronized to music, you won’t soon forget this fireworks display. The best viewing location is downtown East Jordan in Memorial Park, The Marina Docks, The Old Boat Launch and Bridge Area. Memorial Park will also be the best location to hear the music that will accompany the beautiful fireworks display. You won’t want to miss this perfect ending to a wonderful day at the East Jordan Freedom Festival. RAIN DATE – SUNDAY, JUNE 27, 2021
